ILBERT BILL (1883) AND THE INDIAN NATIONAL MOVEMENT

Abstract
This article reviews the Ilbert bill (1883), which proposed to reject racial discrimination in judicial proceedings of British India and its impact on the development of the Indian national movement and the emergence of all-India organization of Indian national congress. A special place is given to the study of the activities of Allan Octavian Hume, who was one of the organizers and inspirers of INC.
