Abstract
The article observes the long-lasting period of money-lending supremacy in the history of theVyatkaland, which was an inevitable stage before development of full-blown credit relations here. Money-lending was flourishing despite of all prohibitions, because it was a result of weakness of local authorities as well asVyatkamerchants. Finally the crushing terms of money-lenders stimulated local merchants to create one of the earliest city-banks inRussia.
