Abstract
Demographic potential plays in the life of the country a significant role. Post-reform Russia's path can be divided in terms of demographic development into two stages. The first stage was characterized by dramatic and sustained decline in the birth rate.
The basis feature of the second stage of the demographic development of Russia in the post-Soviet period is the increase in the birth rate.
Identified specific measures can and should change the demographic situation in Russia for the better.
