Abstract
The article describes the most important features, the advantages and disadvantages of the criminal proceedings in magistrates' courts are defined legislative solutions to the problems of this category of cases: the extension of criminal cases the jurisdiction of magistrates' courts and the provision of free legal aid to the victim acting as a private prosecutor.
