«LOST DECADE» OF SOUTH KOREA

Abstract
Since 2008, the South Korean authorities usually call the period from 1998 to 2008 the «lost decade» of South Korea. Criticizing the policies of previous governments, the administration of Lee Myung-bak in fact has given cause for comparing its results with previous governments. This paper examines the changes in the courses of the President Roh Moo-hyun’ government and the Lee Myung-bak’s administration in domestic and foreign policies, compares the achieved results during the reign of these presidents.
