Abstract
Paper analyzes the impact of the internet and social media in the political processes. Particular attention is paid to their role in the modern mass protests and attempts to democratize authoritarian political regimes. Paper criticaly analyzes theories, which is dominated by technological determinism and ideology of cyberutopism.
