Abstract
Local self-government is one of the most important institutions of modern society. Today it is both a form of self-organization of citizens and - as such - part of civil society, the level of public authorities. This article considers the problem of formation of local self-government in the Russian Federation. We analyze some of the consequences and problems of formation of local self-government at the present stage.
