Abstract
The study focused on the main trends of development of Russian legislation defining the status of the Jews. It was revealed that during the centuries there has been a grad-ual tightening of the rules of law, accompanied by a marked increase in anti-Semitism in various sectors of society, including the highest bureaucracy.
